About Me


Welcome to my webpage. Here you will find some information about me including my interests both in and out of my career, as well as my education and my work experience over the years.


I am a software developer and aspiring machine learning engineer. I recently began my career as a software developer for Leidos. I am a member of the Atlassian tools team, providing support for multiple development teams on our contract using the Atlassian products. I have also had a few internships with a wide range of repsonsibility from testing, to helping write scripts and tools, to web development. I have learned a great deal from all my experiences hope to use all the knowledge I gain to help further my career.

Outside of work, I also enjoy using what I've learned to aid in personal projects. One project that I am currently working on is a surf forecasting dashboard written in Python. It is built using the Plotly Dash framework scraping various websites to find current and forecasted weather conditions to help predict surf. The dashboard offers and easily digestable format for viewing the conditions for multiple locations easily and efficently. Another project I'm working on is a project that analyzes professional surfers wave scores and counts, to try to learn more about what could give surfers an edge in contests. I also enjoy working on smaller projects such as writing a genetic algorithm to solve any size, regular sudoku board.

Aside from programming I enjoy staying physically active. I am an avid surfer, I enjoy paddle boarding, biking, skiing, playing volleyball, and exercising.



Education


I am a recent graduate from the University of Maryland, with a B.S. in Computer Science. My first introduction to programming was at Montgomery College (my local community college). Here I took a few programming courses, focused in Java and object oriented programming, and discrete mathematics.

After earning my Associate Degree from Montgomery College, I transfered to the University of Maryland, continuing my studies in computer science. While at Maryland, I took many courses including Data Structures, Intro to Data Science, Machine Learning, Networks and Security, and Algorithms. Along with my computer science classes, I also took many classes with the Economics department as part of my upper level concentration. While in school, my favorite classes were Intro to Data Science and Machine Learning.

Because of my love for the field I have decided to continue my education by pursuing a Masters Degree in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning at Drexel University. Here I will have the opportunity to learn a variety of subjects related to the field and apply them to my work place.

Work Experience

Leidos




Position: Software Developer

Dates Employed: July 2019 - Present

Description:

Leidos is a government contractor, providing IT support in many fields. At the company, I work as a software developer on a small team that supports other teams using Atlassian products.

Tasks:

  • Write scripts to run analysis on the Atlassian tools
  • Migrate data between various data sources into Atlassian products
  • Upgrade applications written in VB6 to the more modern Visual Basic 2019

ICG Solutions




Position: Data Science Intern

Dates Employed: January 2017 - June 2019

Description:

ICG Solutions is a software development company, who's main product is a real time data analytics software. The software uses "rules" written by the user in order to find and analyze data in real time, without the need to store any large amounts of data. The company is still small and because of this, my tasks varried greatly depending on what needed doing when. However, in all the tasks I worked in a team of about three people in order to solve problems or test the software.

Tasks:

  • Ad hoc testing of the software using JIRA
  • Assist in transfering software across servers
  • Complete full installation of the software through command line
  • Assist with the creation of a Twitter scraping tool written in python

DigiPops.tv




Position: Cloud Function Consultant

Dates Employed: Feburary 2019 - May 2019

Description:

DigiPops.tv is an online film festival serving a major population of short film makers who struggle getting their films into the larger, well established film festivals. Most of their site in hosted in Google's cloud. My main duty while working with the company was focused on Google's Firestore database.

Tasks:

  • Connect Reactadmin backend system to Firestore database
  • Write Python scripts to both create and transfer mock data to Firestore
  • Add react components to admin system
  • Post code to Gitlab for CI/CD and use Trello board to manage tasks

Position: Web Development Intern/IT Technician

Dates Employed: May 2018 - September 2018

Description:

The Institute for Bioscience and Biotechnology Research is a research institute associated with the University of Maryland, located at the University of Shady Grove campus, in Rockville, MD. For the institute, my job was with the IT department with a focus in web development. The institute is currently looking at updating the website, and had me and a fellow intern do a proof of concept for a site written using Django and Vue.js.

Tasks:

  • Learn the Django API Framework
  • Build a ticketing site for the IT department
  • Assist staff with IT related issues
  • Set up for events at the campus

Silver Palm Technologies




Position: Electrical Technician

Dates Employed: March 2016 - August 2016

Description:

Silver Palm Technologies is a small hardware company focusing on SIGINT products. They provide customer-focused engineering services and products to both government and commercial communities. My tasks with the company varried, but focused heavily on manufactoring and testing the products.

Tasks:

  • Build RF/IF recievers
  • Manufacture components used in recievers
  • Test radios to check that they are producing proper output using spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes and more
